This self-study highlights how pastoral care deepens understanding, compassion, and spiritual insight, enabling preaching to speak meaningfully into the lived experiences of the congregation.

This self-study and classroom experience will help you understand the biblical and theological foundations of public prayer and the distinct purpose of each prayer within the divine service. Through study and practice, you will develop the ability to lead concise, reverent, spiritually aware prayers that give voice to the congregation’s worship, thanksgiving, intercession, and hope.

2.2 Holy Statements / Proclamations

Gain a clear understanding of the theology, structure, and purpose of the divine service and its essential liturgical elements. Through classroom and discussion, develop the theological clarity and pastoral confidence needed to faithfully lead each part of the Divine Service and help believers experience its meaning in faith and daily life.

2.3 Integrating songs and spoken words

This self-study will help you understand how congregational song and spoken word work together to support the theology, flow, and spiritual purpose of the divine service.

3.1 Sermon Preparation

This classroom module prepares you to discover biblical foundations and doctrinal truths while anticipating the Path of Understanding. Through the use of Holy Spirit-guided resources, you will develop the tools needed for meaningful research, deepen your curiosity for God’s Word, and uncover the eternal truths that will shape and strengthen your sermon.

3.2 Sermon Formulation

The following classroom module focuses on formulating the sermon by moving from informing to compelling, while shaping biblical and doctrinal insights into a clear, engaging Path of Understanding that connects God’s eternal truths to life and inspires transformation.

3.3 Delivery

Effective sermon delivery brings prepared truth to life through authentic communication and Spirit-led conviction. This self-study module offers practical considerations to keep in mind when delivering a sermon.

3.4 Assisting

You can expect this self-study to equip you to serve effectively in the assisting role by preparing focused, Scripture-centered messages, supporting the officiant, responding to the Holy Spirit, and contributing to one unified, Spirit-led proclamation.

3.5 Reflection & Feedback

Through this self-study, you will develop the ability to evaluate sermons through using techniques from the Path of Understanding, recognize strengths and areas for growth, and apply feedback to strengthen your preaching.

3.6 Preach the Word 1 & 2

Preach the Word! This two-part group discussion explores your responsibility to faithfully proclaim the gospel with truth, humility, courage, and discernment. Across both parts, you are encouraged to keep Christ, salvation, and eternal life at the center of your preaching while leading with love, integrity, endurance, and a life that reflects God's message you proclaim.
